Storage needs more than a toggle

A real recommendation would need interval demand data, solar-generation assumptions, equipment compatibility, installation constraints, and a clearly defined objective.

Battery life, usable capacity, losses, warranties, tariffs, and backup configuration can materially affect an outcome and are not assessed here.

Questions before conclusions

Three considerations this concept keeps visible

  1. Map demand over time

    Daily and seasonal use patterns help show when surplus generation might be available and when stored energy might be useful.

  2. Separate capacity from power

    Energy capacity, charge and discharge power, efficiency, and operating limits are distinct design considerations.

  3. Define the intended role

    Self-use, time shifting, and backup are different goals. Backup capability cannot be assumed from the presence of a battery.
